Beijing will build a $2 billion AI development location as China continues to push to become the global leader in AI technology by 2025. The park will be able to accommodate up to 400 enterprises and will output an estimated $7 billion yearly. The park development will be overseen by the Zhongguancun Development Group and will seek to partner with foreign education systems to set up what has been called a "nation-level" artificial intelligence lab. The news was broken by Xinhua, the official press agency of the People's Republic of China.
The park, if completed will add to a growing set of national initiatives aimed at meeting national AI goals. China revealed in 2017 a development roadmap to address these goals and has urged cooperation between public, military and private firms to achieve them. The new artificial intelligence location will seek to attract organizations that specialize in cloud computing, deep learning, big-data, and biometric identification.
